We need to remember and remind ourselves where we come from, what we are, our nothingness.

About This Quote

We need to remember and remind ourselves where we come from, what we are, our nothingness" is a famous line in the movie Forrest Gump. The movie refers to the point when Forrest Gump remembers he has no legs and feels embarrassed about it. Forrest states that all his life he's been trying to forget the fact that he has no legs and has always focused on things such as his parent's divorce and winning a cross country race. Forrest then realizes that the only thing that matters is himself and that no one can take away what he is.

He finally realizes that what he is not related to his legs and it is all in his mind. Then, after many years of not having legs he is reunited with Jenny and they embrace each other and both cry knowing they have found their way back home.
